Now and then I like to have celebratory cocktail, and my cocktail of choice is a really good Margarita! I use my homemade sweet-sour which tastes so much better than the store bought stuff, and is better for you – no added chemicals, no corn syrup, and agave nectar has a lower impact on blood sugar than most other sweeteners!
In a rocks glass filled with ice cubes add:
1 1/2 oz tequila
1/4 oz Cointreau
2 oz sweet-sour mix
3 1/2 cups lime juice (about 14-16 limes)
1 cup agave nectar
I make the sweet-sour up ahead of time and store it in a glass juice bottle in the refrigerator. This will make enough sweet sour for about 15-16 drinks – perfect for a small summer party!
Juicing the limes in a juicer will produce the most juice. Remove the peels to avoid bitterness. To remove the peels cut the limes in quarters, then cut into the membrane on each end and peel the skin starting with the cut ends. You can also use a manual hand juicer, you may just need more limes to get enough juice.
